Licensure & Recertification Requirements for EMR, EMT, AEMT & Paramedics

Florida EMR Recertification

The EMR National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) requires a total of 16 hours of continuing education to recertify. The model requires continuing education in three components: (1) a national component, (2) a local/state component, and (3) an individual component. Nationally Registered EMRs (NREMR) are required to renew their certification every two years.

NREMT Requirements

• The National Component requires EMRs to complete 8 hours of approved continuing education.
  • 3 Hours of Medical
  • 2.5 Hours of Cardiovascular
  • 1 Hour of Airway/Respiration/Ventilation
  • 1 Hour of Operations
  • 0.5 Hours of Trauma
  • The State Component requires 4 hours that are flexible but must be directly related to EMS patient care.
    • This component is intended to include any required agency and/or state EMS office specific education. If this does not apply to you, the 10 hours match the individual component requirements.
    • The Individual Component requires 4 hours that are flexible but must be directly related to EMS patient care.

CAPCE accredits CE for EMS professionals globally, while NREMT administers certification exams for EMS professionals at different levels.

    The Reports CE/CME also known as the CE Broker is the body responsible for credentialing Physical Therapists (PT) and Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA). In order to maintain current certification as an PT or PTA, therapists must meet all Reports CE/CME CE Broker continuing education (CE) requirements.
